Hilary frames her historic win as a victory for women rights

Hillary Clinton acknowledges celebratory cheers from the crowd during her primary night event at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, June 7, 2016.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Hillary Clinton cemented her status as the first woman to become presumptive presidential nominee of a major American political party on Tuesday night, when the Associated Press projected her the winner in New Jersey’s Democratic primary.

Clinton’s victory in the Garden State ensures she will have more pledged delegates, unbound superdelegates and overall voters than her rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. She declared victory at a New York City rally in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

“Thanks to you, we’ve reached a milestone. The first time in our nation’s history that a woman will be a major party’s nominee,” Clinton told her supporters. “Tonight’s victory is not about one person. It belongs to generations of women and men who struggled and sacrificed and made this moment possible.”

The former first lady, senator and secretary of state technically earned her status on Monday, after the AP and multiple other media outlets projected that she earned firm commitments from enough Democratic superdelegates to secure the nomination at the party’s convention next month. However, the AP call was criticized as a “rush to judgment” by the Sanders campaign. Even Clinton’s own team argued that the real “milestone” would come after she secured a majority of the pledged delegates and primary voters.

In addition to New Jersey, voters also headed to the polls in California, New Mexico, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota on Tuesday. Results in those states have yet to be declared, but even a Sanders sweep would not affect the overall outcome of the race.

Clinton’s victory came just three days after the 97th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote in 1920. It was also eight years to the day after Clinton conceded the 2008 Democratic presidential primary to Barack Obama, with a speech in which she famously declared that her supporters helped her put “18 million cracks” in the “glass ceiling.”

“It may be hard to see tonight but we all standing under a glass ceiling right now. But don’t worry, we’re not smashing this one,” Clinton said Tuesday.

Earlier in the evening, her team released the video that played as an introduction to her remarks. It included footage from the women’s suffrage movement, interspersed with footage of female politicians and Clinton supporters. It concluded with a call to “keep making history.”

Sanders is also scheduled to speak on Tuesday evening at an event in California, where polls showed a tight race between him and Clinton. Though it was clear before any results were announced on Tuesday that it would be almost impossible for Sanders to earn more delegates than Clinton, he has pointed to national polls that show he would perform better against presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. Sanders urged superdelegates who support Clinton to switch sides before the Democratic National Convention next month.

At a news conference Monday, Sanders said he would continue “campaigning” in the District of Columbia’s primary, which will be held on June 14. But Clinton is clearly ready to move on.

“I want to congratulate Sen. Sanders for the extraordinary campaign he has run,” she said, praising their primary battle as “very good for the Democratic Party and for America.”

Inside Clinton’s event, her supporters were excited by the significance of her win. Samson Ogunloye, a 70-year-old researcher at Columbia University, described it as a “historical night.”

“I really love it,” Ogunloye said. “After over 200 years it’s about time.”

Brooklynite Karen Kietzman, 58, described Clinton’s pioneering role as “very important,” though she added, “That’s not the only thing I would vote on.”

Nicholas Santacruz, a nanny who was near the back of the packed crowd, said she was frustrated with the media for projecting Clinton’s victory the day before Tuesday’s election night.

“It’s extremely cool although it’s annoying that the news took it away from us yesterday,” Santacruz said.

Many of Clinton’s supporters also expressed frustration with Sanders for remaining in the race. A large screen hanging over the crowd showed news broadcasts and audience members booed when NBC News projected Sanders the winner in North Dakota. Some members of the audience at Clinton’s event said they hoped Sanders would begin to get behind Clinton and help her win over the more progressive wing of the Democratic Party.

“I think he should try and express his platform and continue to express support for more liberal views, but I think it’s time for him to start working with her,” explained Kietzman. “And I think he will because I think she’s going to win big tonight.”

Andrea Zuniga pointed out Clinton quickly endorsed President Obama after she conceded the 2008 Democratic primary to him. Zuniga suggested that Sanders should “take a page from her book” and “work for party unity.”

Ogunloye, the researcher, has a slightly different perspective on Sanders.

“What about him? Let him go away. He’s of no use,” Ogunloye said of Sanders.

The Clinton campaign certainly seems to be pivoting away from the primary fight against Sanders. Next week, Clinton is scheduled to campaign in Ohio and Pennsylvania, two major swing states in the general election. Clinton campaign aide Lily Adams offered a blunt response when Yahoo News asked if the trip represents a pivot towards the general election.

“Yeah, they’re battleground states,” Adams said.

People are pissed Hilary cliton wore an expensive Armani jacket

Hillary Clinton has a plan to fix economic inequality. If elected president, she’ll give working families a raise and implement tax reliefs, create jobs by investing in infrastructure, and crackdown on corporate loopholes. But the presumptive Democratic nominee is currently under fire for being a part of the problem — not the solution. A new report from The New York Post has revealed that during a speech in April, during which she detailed her plan to close the wage gap, Clinton was wearing a jacket worth $12,495.

The red tweed coat comes from Italian design house Giorgio Armani and is just one of many statement pieces in Clinton’s wardrobe. Known for her pants suits, she’s reportedly spent the past few months rehabilitating her appearance, having hired image consultant Kristina Schake, who was supposedly tasked with making Clinton more relatable and formerly worked with Michelle Obama and .

Although, as many have noted, sporting a single article of clothing that costs about as much as the annual salary of one minimum wage worker is far from accessible.

hillary clinton wore a jacket that costed as much as my car while giving a speech about inequality

@HillaryClinton don’t talk to me about $$ inequality when your jacket alone is a fraction of my student debt

— Alan Nguyen (@ANguyening)June 7, 2016

It should be noted that the funds for Clinton’s fashions are most likely coming out of her personal funds, according to MarketWatch. Others have come to Clinton’s defense, pointing out the fact that Republican opponent Donald Trump spends thousands on custom suits. Additionally, his wife, Melania Trump, often wears designer items from the same brands Clinton shops from.

Clinton is far from the first politician to get flack for her high-end outfit choices. Michele Obama, a fan of J. Crew and Target, likes to mix these mass brands with $540 Lanvin sneakers. Her daughters Sasha and Malia evenwore $20,000 dresses to a recent state dinner at the White House. In 2008, Sarah Palin was criticized for a $150,000 makeover from Alaskan governor to potential vice president.

Body recovered from an 8 foot alligator in florida

Police in Lakeland, Florida are currently investigating a body they discovered in the mouth of an 8-foot alligator on Tuesday.

Sgt. Gary Gross, who responded to the scene at Lake Hunter, tells PEOPLE he saw the 8-foot gator with what appeared to be a human body in its mouth.

"He rolled a few times in the water and then let go [of the body] and swam off," Gross says.

Members of the Lakeland Police Department then recovered the body of a white male that "appeared to have been in the water for more than a day," Gross says.

It is unknown if the victim died from an alligator attack or unrelated causes.

"He could have been in the water for days but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been an alligator attack from three days ago," Gross explains. "It's mating season down here and the alligators can store their food for some time."

Detectives are currently combing the scene for anything that might help to identify the victim, and a gator trapper has been dispatched to attempt to catch the animal.

"They're on the scene right now trying to catch the alligator so that they can examine the contents of its stomach and see if there's any human remains in it," Gross says.

Gross says there are no open missing persons cases in the area that match the victim's description so the investigation into the victim's identity and cause and manner of death will be continued by the medical examiner.

Kimbo slice dies @ 42

Popular mixed martial arts fighter Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson has died. He was 42.

Slice was stricken at his South Florida home and taken Monday afternoon to the Northwest Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, a spokeswoman for the Coral Springs, Fla., Police told Yahoo Sports on Monday. He later died.

Bellator president Scott Coker confirmed Slice's death in a statement:

"We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family. One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that trancended the sport."

"Outside the cage, he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo's friends, fans, and teammates."

Sgt. Carla Kmiotek of the Coral Springs police told Yahoo Sports no foul play is suspected. She said the department dispatched a team of officers to Slice's home because he is a public figure in order to control whatever crowd might gather.

"At 8 p.m. (ET) we received a call from TMZ," Kmiotek said. "Our communications department confirmed with Northwest Medical that he is there. We did not receive a police or EMS call from the residence. There is no foul play suspected and there is no investigation. It is being handled as a medical incident.

Slice burst into prominence a little more than a decade ago, when videos of his infamous street fights were viewed millions of times on YouTube. He initially signed with Elite XC and drew huge ratings for his fights on CBS.

In 2009, he signed a deal with the UFC to appear on Season 10 of "The Ultimate Fighter." He was eliminated by Roy Nelson in the opening round, but appeared on the season finale and defeated Houston Alexander. He fought once more in the UFC and was knocked out in the second round of UFC 113 by Matt Mitrione.

Slice fought his last two fights in Bellator and drew huge television ratings for each. He defeated Ken Shamrock at Bellator 138 on June 19, 2015, and Dhafir Harris, aka Dada 5000 at Bellator 149 on Feb. 19. However, Slice tested positive for an anabolic steroid following that fight and the victory was turned to a no contest.

He had been scheduled to rematch James Thompson at Bellator 158 in London on July 16. Slice was 5-2-1 as a professional mixed martial artist. He also had seven pro boxing matches and was 7-0 with six knockouts.

Losing Her Cool, Kristen Stewart's Girlfriend Soko Flips Paparazzi Off

Losing Her Cool, Kristen Stewart's Girlfriend Soko Flips Paparazzi Off

The French singer is visibly annoyed as she and the 'Still Alice' actress are followed around by photographers during their recent outing.
Is Soko pulling a Kristen Stewart? The French singer and actress flipped the bird when stepping out with her rumored girlfriend, the "Twilight Saga" star, in Paris on Thursday, March 17. Soko, who was standing in front of a building alone, gave photographers two middle fingers as she realized that she was tailed by paparazzi.

Soko seemed to imitate Kristen who had several times flipped the bird in public. The two have been spending time together in the City of Light since Kristen arrived in France on Sunday. During their latest outing, the pair were seen heading to a dentist.

Apparently having a similar taste in fashion, Kristen and Soko donned co-ordinating outfits that day. The former girlfriend of Robert Pattinson sported a grey vest top, a zip-up hooded jumper, a leather biker jacket and black jeans. Soko, meanwhile, combined a white T-shirt, a red plaid shirt, a denim jacket and black skinny jeans.

While Soko and Kristen have not addressed the nature of their relationship, the two were spotted kissing on the street on Tuesday, which pretty much confirmed that they're indeed an item.

Caitlyn Jenner Says She Is Afraid of 'Rejection' While Mingling with Men on I Am Cait

Caitlyn Jenner is out of her comfort zone.

In a sneak peek at Sunday's episode of I Am Cait, things get a little awkward as the reality star and her friends are hanging out and mingling with men at their hotel bar in Chicago.

"I'm uncomfortable .... in the middle of such a public place," Jenner, 66, tells her friend and hairstylist Courtney Nanson.

"For me, the big problem that I have in a lot of things is rejection," she says in a confessional. "That's why, probably, one of the reasons I didn't date that much."

The women then start chatting with different men across the room and Jenner settles into a conversation with a real estate developer named Joe – but her close friend Candis Cayne tells the camera that Jenner "doesn't really know how to talk to guys at all."

"With a flirt, with something more than just who she is, and so she doesn't know how to follow – she wants to lead," Cayne says. "Sometimes when you're talking to guys you have to take the back seat a little bit. I don't know if she's ready to do that."

Eventually, Jenner decides it's not her scene and walks out: "I'm out of here," she says as her friends joke "Jenner's left the building."

VIDEO: Top 3 I Am Cait Moments You May Have Missed

That's not the only time the former Olympian's interactions with men is explored in Sunday's episode: in a previously released sneak peek, Jenner refuses to dance with a man during a group salsa lesson.

"I am not with doing this," she says in the clip. "Having a bunch of guys here, so we dance with guys? That ain't happening. That picture is going to go all over the world and I don't want my kids to see that."

I Am Cait airs Sundays (9 p.m. ET) on E!

young thug dissed rich homie quan live on stage

Remember when Rich Homie Quan sat down with Tim Westwood and said that it’s all still love between him, Birdman and Young Thug last month, despite Rich Gang splitting? Yeah, someone forgot to give Young Thug the memo.
During his show in Santa Ana, California, Thugga shouted, “F**k Rich Homie,” before performing their 2014 collaboration, “Lifestyle”. The motive? You’re better figuring out when Kanye will stop tweeting to be honest. What’s clear is the beef is still real - from Thug’s side at least.
What makes this all even stranger is that back in November (2015), Quan said a Rich Gang project was in the works. We’re yet to see any sign of that of course, or maybe it is happening and the two had a fallout and that’s what Thugga’s mad about. On the other hand, he has been putting his head down into his own work and just might be heading for a tour in May (2016).
Watch Young Thug diss Rich Homie Quan at the 4-second mark below:

obama stans for j. cole

With Donald Trump being a potential next president for America, it may be a very long time before we see a POTUS as dope as Barack Obama. He might’ve revealed that Obama’s favourite song of 2015 was Kendrick Lamar’s “How Much a Dollar Cost” and even picked K.Dot over J. Cole as his favourite rapper but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a fan of Cole.
As we’ve previously reported, J. Cole was tipped as the entertainment for Obama’s Democratic National Committee fundraiser and the President was sure to make clear his admiration for the rapper. "I love J. Cole. You know, this is the benefit of having teenage daughters. I actually keep up. I got a chance to see J. Cole's mum and grandma," Obama said. You’ll be hard pressed to find a cooler president.
In slightly more serious political moves concerning the “Apparently” rapper, at a recent Trump rally, a protester named Thomas DiMassimo tried to jump onto the stage before security pinned him to the ground and ripped his Dreamville Records T-shirt.

In an interview with CNN, the 22-year-old explained his actions. "I was thinking that I could get up on stage and take his podium away from him and take his mic away from him and send a message to all people ... that we can be strong, that we can find our strength and we can stand up against Donald Trump and against this new wave he's ushering in of truly just violent white supremacist ideas," he said.
Dreamville Records' president, Ibrahim Hamad, reached out to Thomas DiMassimo on Twitter and promising to send him new merchandise free of charge. It looks like young DiMassimo achieved his goal of getting his message out after all.

jhené aiko and dot da genius got married secretly?

Dot Da Genius dropped a bomb on social media when he revealed that he has wifed singer Jhené Aiko. The surprise announcement came up on Instagram when the producer wished his new wife a happy birthday. "Happy Birthday to my gorgeous wife. Happy to be on this quest w/ you!!!" he captioned a picture of him putting a ring on it. Rumours about their marriage have been doing the rounds since Genius shared a pic of the couple’s Hawaii trip featuring matching bands on their left fingers.
In December (2015) Dot had posted a pic on Instagram saying, "Congratulations to my wife on her Grammy nomination!!" That image was deleted but since his Instagram and Twitter are obviously linked, the tweet related to the IG post is still live. Which puts their marriage earlier than December last year but it’s still not exactly clear when they hooked up.

Just two years ago Jhené revealed some details about her relationship status to Complex. On whether she was seeing someone at the time, she said, "There is, but I’m single. Not by choice, only because I found now that when I talk to guys, they’re wary because they know about Donald, they know I’ve worked with Drake. They’re always side-eyed, suspicious. But I’m loyal in relationships. If I’m your girlfriend, that’s it. I’m practicing to be your wife at that point because I treat it seriously. I feel like I was born to be a mom and a wife and totally domesticated."
The new couple actually collaborated in that year when Dot and Woodro Skillson as HeadBanga Muzik jumped on Jhené's ‘Sail Out’ EP track "The Worst." Congratulations to the newly(?) weds on their union and keeping it private.

Just In: Court denies Alex Badeh's bail application

– Nigeria’s former chief of defence, Alex Badeh is one those indicted in the $2.1 billion arms deal scam – Other former and serving military chiefs are also under investigation – Badeh was today denied bail by a federal high court sitting in Abuja, the nation’s capital  A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, March 4, refused a bail application by a former chief of defense, Alex Badeh.
Alex Badeh is one of the former military chiefs indicted in the arms deal scam At his ruling the presiding judge, John Tsoho said because there is a existing remand order by the Magistrate Court in Lagos, the court cannot give an order for the release of the applicant. At his ruling the presiding judge, John Tsoho said because there is a existing remand order by the Magistrate Court in Lagos, the court cannot give an order for the release of the applicant. READ ALSO: Confusion over former defence chief Alex Badeh’s arraignment He noted that in the application by the applicant, there was no prayer asking the court to set aside the order of the Magistrate Court as received by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Badeh’s counsel, Samuel Zibiri had earlier argued that the application pursuant to sections 35 (4) and 36 (5) of the 1999 constitution. His client sought the order of the court to admit the former defence chief to bail on self-recognizance or on liberal terms pending his arraignment by the anti-graft agency. Zibiri said the application was based on the grounds that the former military chief had voluntarily honoured EFCC’S invitation but was held in detention since February 8. “The applicant was originally invited and interrogated in the Abuja office of the commission but was later moved to Lagos for further interrogation,” Zibiri had said. But the EFCC’S counsel, Cosmos Ugwu avered that Badeh detention in a Lagos EFCC facility is not related to the matter for his earlier invitation by the commission. Badeh filed a suit against the EFCC for an infringement on his fundamental human right and prolonged detention. The former defence chief is currently being detained by the EFCC over his involvement in the widely distributed $2.1 billion arms deal popularly known as the Dasukigate. He is also being investigated for receiving $800,000 from his finance director during his tenure as the defence chief. READ ALSO: Lawyers, family express concern over ex-military chief Alex Badeh’s health But denying all the allegations against him, Badeh has also said that he is being persecuted unjustly. The former defence chief in a statement said all allegations against him are false. However, Badeh is set to face a 10-count charge of criminal breach of trust and corruption to the tune of N3.9 billion. He will be arraigned before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court on Monday, March 7. Recently, there were reports that the EFCC had traced some money to the accounts of wives and children of some former and serving military chiefs. The officers were said to have acquired properties in the names of their wives, children and relations to cover up their loot.

Celebrity Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Had ‘Fierce Rows’ Over The First Photo Of Baby Saint

last week Kim Kardashian finally blessed us with the first photo of her and Kanye West’s three-month-old son, Saint, and although the image was as peaceful and gorgeous as could be there was non-stop stress behind the scenes.
Eek.
According to new sources the parents had fierce arguments about which photo of Saint should be released to the world, with Kimye organizing no less than four photoshoots before settling on a photo.
With Kanye considering himself “the creative director” of the shoot, he wanted their son to be dressed in designer gear and shot by a professional photographer whereas Kim wanted to keep thing simple.
A source told heat magazine: “Kanye considered himself the ‘creative director’ of the shoot, and wanted to get the perfect shot of Saint.
“He wanted him to wear designer clothes he’d had specially commissioned, but Kim kept saying it was ‘stupid’ and ‘inappropriate’ and that she wanted something uncontroversial and simple, which showed the world that Saint is a gorgeous little baby.”
The insider goes on to add that Kanye called in edgy fashion photographer Nick Knight, but Kim was left less than impressed by the snaps. They then moved on to Mario Testino and Nick Saglimbeni but the couple still weren’t satisfied.
And, as it happens, the final image was a whole lot simpler to get, with the source sharing: “In the end it was Kim who took the picture, and she loved it. Over 1,000 photos had been taken by that stage, and she fought Kanye hard to use her one.
“But even then, they couldn’t agree on where the image would appear. Kanye wanted it to go in ‘a fashion mag’, but no one seemed to be interested, which infuriated him. Kim wanted to do a celebrity magazine, but Kanye refused.
“In the end, neither could agree, and so they just said, ‘To hell with it,’ and put it on the app.”
Phew, maybe that’s the real reason why it took us so long to catch a glimpse of their newborn bundle of joy.
